Abstract: Celebrities function as a reflection of individual rise within society; pop divas, similarly, represent the elevated status that women can achieve in artistic spaces such as music. In between today’s myriad of famous figures, Adele stands out in this space for her talent and impactful presence, although it is not very frequent. The British pop singer, known as a diva who takes long hiatuses and stays away from the spotlight, ends up enabling the production of informational gaps that can be filled, in which gossip plays a significant modulatory role, as it functions as a way of producing and disseminating knowledge. Therefore, it is within this complex context that this study is situated, seeking to understand how Adele is constructed as a contemporary pop diva and how gossip helps establish controversies surrounding her name. As a methodology, the study adopts an investigation that conceives the production of gossip as a linear and chronological narrative, understanding that it is possible to trace a reality through the information made available by news portals, digital ones in this case, with emphasis on the Brazilian perspective. The controversies to be analyzed revolve around two relevant characteristics in the composition of Adele’s public image: her body and her voice. Respectively, one refers to the presence of a fat body that becomes thin over time through various weight-loss processes, and the other addresses the loss of the instrument that most consecrates her career. The analysis of the first includes a total of 79 gossip items from 2012 to 2025, and the second comprises 42 gossip items between 2011 and 2025. As results, the study found the possibility of creating controversies through gossip, as well as different ways of perceiving this practice, ranging from malicious discourse to the transmission of everyday and ordinary information about the singer.

Abstract: The current project aims to study the relation between the rise of the COVID-19 virus and the bicycles in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The focus here is to research the potencial impact of the advent of the pandemic on: a) the sales of the modal, b) the increase of its use and c) changes in different cycling infrastructures. This dissertation starts with a brief history of the bicycle, beginning with its first drafts which were attributed to Leonardo da Vinci. Then it approaches the symbology associated with bikes in the first years of the Feminist Revolution on the XIXth century, until their arrival in Brazil. Still on the first part, this paper portraits the use of bicycles as a social tool and their important role on urban mobility, especialy on the streets and cycle paths of Rio de Janeiro. The second part of this document presents a historical timeline of COVID-19, from the appearance of the Sars-Cov-2 virus in China until the decree of the national state of public crisis. Thereafter, this paper analyzes how bicycles were included in this context. It is noted that bikes became a good solution for mobility with social distance, as well as representing a great relief from the stress incurred as a result of the confinement imposed in the period. Different actions and changes in favor of bikes in urban centers are also represented here, such as: the creation of temporary bike lanes in various cities around the world, financial incentives offered to cyclists by some governments for the use of the modal. The current paper shows the great increase in the number of grocery deliverymen on the period, their important role during the forced isolation and how bicycles economically helped thousands of people who, having lost their incomes, started to work in this activity. The final part of this dissertation discusses the effects of the pandemic on the bicycle market and on the sales of the modal, as well as showing how various economical sectors related to bikes drive the economic climate. The last part of this paper is dedicated to a field research, which aims to confirm if there has been a real and lasting impact on the use of bicycles by the population of the city of Rio de Janeiro during the pandemic.

Abstract: This dissertation investigates the presence and remarkable resilience of Afro-Cuban Ifá in Rio de Janeiro, a millenary oracular system that, despite colonial erasure, emerges as a pillar of cultural affirmation for Afro-diasporic communities. Through a communicative analysis of the "A Letra do Ano na Tradição de Rafael Zamora" event, the study explores the transmission of knowledge, rituals, and values, highlighting Ifá's role in preserving memory and identity against historical and contemporary challenges. The central objective is to understand how this festivity operates as a space of resistance, examining both its internal community communication practices and the strategic use of digital tools, such as Instagram, to amplify its message and promote Ifá's visibility. The qualitative methodology delves into the figure of Ifá/Orunmilá, its trajectory in Brazil (especially the Cuban lineage), and scrutinizes the communicative structures of the festivity, encompassing internal organization and the appropriation of media like Instagram (@RobsonIfaori and #Letradoano2025) for dissemination. Expected results will indicate the communication strategies that ensure Ifá's vitality, demonstrating the event's adaptation to new formats and the efficacy of digital media in enhancing visibility and mobilization, thus consolidating it as a hub of Afro-diasporic resistance and highlighting the importance of internal communication for cohesion. It is concluded that Afro-Cuban Ifá constitutes a potent vector of cultural resistance. The analysis of "A Letra do Ano" evidences the adaptive capacity and dynamism of Afro-diasporic cultures, with the integration of digital media showcasing innovation in perpetuating tradition, reinforcing that communication, in its diverse forms, is fundamental for Ifá's preservation and the strengthening of community identity and memory in the Rio de Janeiro context.

Abstract: The construction of a city’s brand (city branding) has become a relevant strategy in promoting urban destinations, connecting cultural, historical, and symbolic elements that resonate with different publics. In this context, literature can influence the ways urban spaces are symbolically interpreted, contributing to the circulation of imaginaries associated with the city. In this research, I investigate how the Neapolitan Novels by Elena Ferrante participates in the city branding process of Naples, considering both the series’ representations of the city and the meanings activated by readers on different digital platforms. The work, composed of My Brilliant Friend (2015), The Story of a New Name (2016a), Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay (2016b), and The Story of the Lost Child (2017), portrays Naples throughout the twentieth century, presenting a detailed narrative of its neighborhoods, streets, and social transformations. I begin with the hypothesis that the series acts as a discursive vector in the production of meanings about the city, a process intensified by fan practices that contribute to the re- signification of its image. I adopt a qualitative methodology based on Discourse Analysis, and the corpus includes tourist itineraries, an interactive map, social media posts, and literary reviews. In this study, I articulate literature, city branding, and fan culture. The results point to discursive strategies that connect Ferrante’s narrative to the contemporary image of Naples, highlighting the intersection between literature, digital mediations, and urban communication.
