Abstract: The present work aims to discuss the relationship between violence and education in the peripheral neighborhood of Bangu. The dissertation presents how the Babel myth, and its subsequent literary construction, culminated in a contemporary reproduction of the original urban chaos, fostering analogies with other places labeled as "real." This research was only made possible through a literary review of the history of Bangu. In other words, the work uses the neighborhood’s genealogy as an analytical point for research production, thus aiming to reflect on how urban construction has reverberated on the local citizen from the past, present, and (perhaps) future. Therefore, the construction of a primary violence toward the area originates in its architectural organization, which resonates in ways of inhabiting the space, whether in leisure or labor. The sense of education emerges when, from the streets, resistances to these violences arise as points of confrontation against the normalizations imposed by the State, such as cultural productions and human relations.

Abstract: This dissertation analyses structured and institutionalised transphobia in analytical formation from the perspective of a transmasculine psychoanalyst. It proposes an epistemological reversal, in which trans people produce knowledge about themselves, as well as about cisgenderism and psychoanalysis. The research adopts trans self-theory as a method, inspired by Paul Preciado, articulating self-experience and theoretical analysis. The situated experience, understood as the production of transmasculine knowledge and as a mode of transmission of psychoanalytic teaching, includes episodes of silencing and threats resulting from the naming of cisgender norms, especially when tensioning masculinities, machismo, and misogyny in the context of peripheral psychoanalyst collectives. By tensioning the normative devices of formation and transmission of analytical knowledge, segregation becomes evident, constituting a crisis of small differences. As a result, the study demonstrates that trans self-theory operates as an ethical-political device capable of displacing cisgender centrality in analytical formation and producing critical knowledge consistent with the ethics of desire. It is argued that this perspective favours listening that is implicated in the unconscious and social crossings of the subject, contributing to the critical revision of contemporary psychoanalytic formation and to the strengthening of dialogue with the field of education, by challenging the ways of teaching, transmitting, and legitimising knowledge.

Abstract: The master's research investigates the meanings of feminine cyberbodies in “dancinhas” (short dance videos) produced and shared on TikTok. For this purpose, I align myself with post-structuralism, aiming to explore new possibilities and methodological paths inspired by the desire to build/experiment with alternative routes. I adopt online cartography (Felipe Carvalho and Fernando Pocahy) in the fieldwork conducted on TikTok, and I center my theoretical reflections mainly around the concepts of cyberculture (Edméa Santos, André Lemos, and Lúcia Santaella), cyberbody (Leonardo Nolasco-Silva and Tania Lucía Maddalena), youth (Paulo Carrano and Juarez Dayrell), and heteronormativity (Guacira Louro, Paul Preciado, and Judith Butler). Between April 2023 and March 2025, I mapped videos and comments produced and disseminated by users on TikTok, recognizing them as an invitation to reflect on the contested meanings of female bodies in the age of cyberculture. Based on this field mapping, I also emphasize the scarcity of research that explores the educational potential of the platform in shaping new ways of thinking/looking at youth in connection with the social markers of gender, sexuality, and corporality. In this context, I have been investigating dance videos produced and shared by young people, while also analyzing the comments posted by users regarding this content. The empirical material was organized and interpreted using four categories: (1) sexualization and harassment; (2) aesthetic and intellectual devaluation; (3) religious surveillance; and (4) prohibition of mobile phone use in schools. The research revealed how feminine cyberbodies are constantly targeted by gender regulatory norms, becoming frequent subjects of hypersexualized and harassing comments. Besides being objectified, these cyberbodies have their aesthetics questioned and are perceived as bodies that “only dance, but do not think,” reinforcing the body-intellect dichotomy and contributing to the denial of these young women’s agency. Additionally, their performances are subject to surveillance often rooted in moral and religious values. I also identified the urgency of fostering debates on the use of mobile devices in and out of school, recognizing their communicative potential and how these cultural artifacts mediate social relationships and influence the construction of youth subjectivities. In light of this, I recognize the need to invest in a cyberfeminist education that challenges heteronormativity and values the multiplicity of youth existences and experiences in times of cyberculture.

Abstract: This research analyzes the territorialization process of Pequena Obra Nossa Senhora Auxiliadora (PONSA) as an educational strategy developed by elite Catholic women intellectuals in the Santa Marta favela, Rio de Janeiro, between 1945 and 2010. The investigation examines how the institution inserted itself into the favela territory and participated in shaping Morro Santa Marta as a space of collective memory, identifies the representations of elite Catholic woman intellectual embodied by Laura de Andrade Pinto do Rego Monteiro, president for over four decades, and mapping the sociability networks mobilized for the construction and maintenance of the institutional presence materialized in the headquarters building called Casa de Mater. The study is methodologically grounded in Carlo Ginzburg's evidential paradigm for analyzing dispersed sources, mobilizing the concepts of territorialization by Rogério Haesbaert, intellectuals and sociability networks by Jean-François Sirinelli, representation by Roger Chartier, strategies by Michel de Certeau, and elite according to Maria da Graça Setton. The sources comprise annotations based on institutional minutes, international correspondence with Catholic funding organizations, photographs, an institutional pamphlet, and journalistic articles from the Brazilian Digital Newspaper Library. The research demonstrates that PONSA developed territorialization by simultaneously articulating material domination through ownership of the building and symbolic-cultural appropriation through Catholic educational, devotional, and assistance practices. The presidents strategically mobilized multiple sociability networks: family networks, charitable events of Rio's elite, sewing groups, the Lions Club of Botafogo, Jesuits, female religious congregations, international Catholic funding, and government agreements across all three administrative levels. The study reveals the structural contradictions of this educational experience which simultaneously provided effective services to the population while reproducing social hierarchies through tutelary assistentialism that denied community autonomy to residents. The research contributes to the historiography of Brazilian education by documenting a Catholic educational institution in a favela context, a phenomenon little explored in the field, and broadens understanding of the protagonism of elite Catholic women intellectuals in twentieth-century education history.
