Abstract: Beyond the discourse of classical psychiatry, our work seeks to tell other stories of Bipolar Disorder (BD), through behind-the-scenes narrated by those who live (with) the diagnosis, maintaining the sensitive aspect of lived experiences. A topic previously so sensitive and private regarding my mother's diagnosis emerges from behind the scenes and occupies a new dimension in my academic life, expanding its boundaries. The research was gradually delineated, in an artisanal manner, with the arrival of the documentary “As linhas da minha mão”, by João Dumans and Viviane de Cassia Ferreira. Organized with scenes from the actress's own life, Viviane narrates the stories of her behind-the-scenes with the diagnosis of bipolarity. Inspired by the film, the cinematographic metaphor functioned as a guide in the crafting of the research, acting alongside Actor-Network Theory and the strategy of “ResearchingWITH” those who live, and not “about”, supported by authors such as Laura Quadros, Marcia Moraes, and Chimamanda Adichie. My allies in research and in life intertwine with what I call a “Laurian” artisanship, configured from a Gestalt gaze. Thus, the present dissertation brings the possibility that by telling many stories, different modes of existence-in-the-world may be (re)cognized – and that (re)cognizing this multiplicity of worlds configures itself as our mission as psychologists and health professionals.

Abstract: The current globalized, colonial and capitalistic world is becoming an increasingly intense producer of migrations. In this research, the migrations of three Afghan families were mapped as they departed from their existential territories to reach the carioca reality. In this process, they participated in interviews with the researcher, considered here as intercultural encounters. Their analyses were also intercultural. We seek to analyze the forces and procedures involved in the processes of subjectivation of the departure from the country of origin, Afghanistan, located in Asia, around the Middle East, as well as the arrival in the Latin American country, Brazil. In these intercultural encounters, we reflected on concepts such as the sense of belonging, nationality, refuge, and the migrations that are present before and after displacement. We also analyzed intercultural vectors that were presented, such as food, music, religion, languages, and relationships, which were present and led to a greater wealth of analyses, reflections, and stories. The critical, political and, at the same time, affective and creative commitment to psychosocial cartography was a pillar element of the research and its writing.

Abstract: This work presents an ethnography of a particular socio-political scenario in which psychoanalysis is inserted, analyzing the transformations and challenges that emerge with the growing psychoanalytic production today, both events and research productions focused on social and political issues, linking government agencies, universities and social movements. Based on the emergence of social and university collectives that practice and re-signify psychoanalysis in these new contexts, the study sought to understand, through participant observation at events and conversations with strategically placed interlocutors, how this movement is configured, what questions emerge and how these interlocutors experience and reflect on this path. We have tried to construct two typologies, one of embarrassments and the other of crossroads, to try to account for the movement of ruptures from canonical and established psychoanalysis, towards the construction of psychoanalysis that swings and transforms itself in the face of movements that denounce racism, sexism, ableism, class differences, among so many structures that produce social inequalities and the deaths of some bodies, subjects and epistemes.

Abstract: Parental practices are important aspects related to children’s development. Many biological and environmental factors may impact parental behaviors; among those, the presence of two or more children in the family’s core and primary caregivers’ socioeconomic status are highlighted. The current research’s goal was to investigate the most preferred parental practices of mothers of two or more children, besides verifying the possible associations between parental behaviors and family’s socioeconomic status. 33 adult participants answered semi structured interviews that discussed their own perceptions of parenting. In Study 1, primary caregivers’ reports were analyzed through Word Cloud and Descending Hierarchical Classification (DHC) methods. The classes generated by the DHC analysis were named as: 1) the influence of children’s similarities and divergences on parental practices; 2) understanding and response to primary care needs; 3) parental practices related to sensibility; 4) the relationship between parental characteristics and offspring’s birth order. It was verified that maternal figures reported treating their children differently by taking into consideration their ages and specific needs. It was also evidenced that the primary caregivers prioritized the behaviors associated with sensibility and care. The second study evaluated the relationship between socioeconomic status and parental practices through the Specificity analysis. Higher socioeconomic status was related to differential treatment and to the parental practices associated with the authoritative parenting style. Whilst the reports mothers with lower socioeconomic status focused more on the difficulties of parenting and the practice of primary care. The conduction of qualitative studies highlighted how Brazilian maternal figures of more than one child feel and behave in different social contexts.
