Abstract: This study aimed to systematic literature review explores the results of studies that have analyzed the association between inflammation and nutritional status in cancer patients in palliative care. The bibliographic research was performed in May 2019, according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Group guidelines. The inclusion criteria were papers that: (1) had an on-line abstract available; (2) were original; (3) used a cohort or cross-sectional design; (4) involved patients with advanced cancer in palliative care; and (5) assessed the association between inflammation and nutritional status. The quality assessment was performed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. Nine studies were selected. Weight loss (WL; n = 7) was the most common nutritional marker employed and C-reactive protein (CRP; n = 6) was the most common inflammatory marker. There was considerable variability (39.0%–92.2%) in the proportion of patients who had WL in a six-month period, while CRP > 5 mg/L was common in 45.3% – 73.9% of patients.Systemic inflammation was related to nutritional status, highlighting the relationship between CRP and WL and lean mass (LM). Patients with CRP > 10 mg/L have been found to have a lower LM (p < 0.001) and a faster rate of loss of LM at a faster rate during the disease trajectory (p = 0.030). In most articles, intensified systemic inflammation, as reflected by the elevation of the modified Glasgow Prognostic Score (EPGm), was related to poorer nutritional status assessed by the Global Patient-Produced Subjective Assessment (ASG-PPP) and both associated with poorer overall survival in advanced cancer. Nutritional status is associated with systemic inflammatory response. Inflammatory markers should be considered an additional parameter for the nutritional diagnosis of cancer patients in palliative care. The main validated prognostic tools for assessing nutritional status and systemic inflammation in this population were, respectively, ASG-PPP and EPGm, both of which are reliable indicators to assist in the most favorable therapeutic decision for cancer patients in palliative care. The main prognostic tools considered validated for nutritional status assessment were weight loss, lean mass loss and ASG-PPP; to assess systemic inflammation was PCR and EPGm; therefore, they could ideally be used together as reliable indicators to aid in the most favorable therapeutic decision for advanced cancer patients.

Abstract: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a severe clinical disorder, and its management is a challenge for professionals involved in public health. Elderly individuals with MetS have less flexibility and elevated difficulty in performing daily activities compared to those without the disease. Whole body vibration exercises (WBVE) performed on the vibrating platform can reduce the risk of falls in elderly and increase muscle strength, cardiorespiratory function and flexibility in adults. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects (acute and cumulative) of WBVE on flexibility and on the level of rating perceived exertion in individuals with MetS, in the period of 6 weeks. Material and Methods: This study recruited 31 subjects and 19 underwent the protocol (58.79 ± 12.55 years, 1.62 ± 0.09 m, height, 86.27 and ± 15.03 kg of body mass). The individuals were randomized into two groups: Sham of 09 and WBVE of 10 individuals. Anterior trunk flexion (ATF) and rating perceived exertion scale (RPE) were determined before and after each session for six weeks. Results: Significant improvements (p≤0.05) of ATF were observed in all interventions (Sham and WBVE groups) in the acute and cumulative effects. There was no reduction in the evaluation of RPE in the acute effect (p>0.05), but a significant decrease (p≤0.05) was demonstrated in the cumulative effect. Conclusion: WBVE would promote physiological effects, which allow the incorporation of WBVE into the physical exercise routine for individuals with SMet with the aim of improving the trunk flexibility and reducing the effort to carry out activities. This favored the elaboration of a clinical protocol.

Abstract: The preservation of the crime scene ensures the integrity of the evidence to be collected in an area where a criminal act occurred, and the chronological history of this evidence, along with all its links—from recognition to disposal—will be secured by the chain of custody. With the enactment of Law 13.964/19, the chain of custody gained greater importance and regulation, wherein the legislator defined all its stages and determined that its initiation begins with the preservation of the crime scene. It is not solely the responsibility of forensic experts or the police authority, but also of the first public agent who arrives at the scene (first responders), whether they are civil or military police officers, firefighters, or municipal guards. In light of this recent legal framework and the scarcity of informational material regarding the procedures adopted by police in the form of service regulations, this study aimed to characterize the chain of custody concerning current legal aspects, highlighting the role of these primary response public agents (first responders) in the context of preserving the chain of custody, in accordance with the latest recommendations in legislation and Brazilian literature. The goal is to produce a reference material for the formulation of a document that can be used as a source of consultation and as a reference for public agents to enhance their functions. This research was conducted through a survey of the literature related to forensic science in the databases Scopus, Capes Periodical, and JusBrasil regarding the chain of custody, crime scene preservation, the term “first responders,” and preservation at crime scenes. The survey covered the period from 2019 to 2024, and after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulted in 2 selected articles for study in the Scopus database, 10 selected articles for study in the JusBrasil database, and 8 selected articles for study in the Capes Periodical database. After compiling the bibliographic material, the recommended actions for primary response public agents (first responders) related to the chain of custody and its preservation were selected and described, and technical guidance material was produced for use by institutions in training these agents. It is concluded that there is a need for comprehensive and continuous training of primary response public agents (first responders) regarding forensic sciences and the innovations brought by Law 13.964/19, along with raising awareness among these public agents of their importance and role in preserving the crime scene.

Abstract: Companies are looking for solutions to improve their productivity indicators and reduce costs. Investments in health promotion programs can be a way to achieve this goal. (DURSI, 2008) Analyzing health promotion practices and identifying the impact on reducing health care costs were the objectives of this work. The scope review (scoping review) made it possible to synthesize knowledge about health management made available in the databases (Pubmed, Google Scholar, Scielo, Ebsco, CAPES Journal Portal, CINAHL and Gray Literature). Of the 1507 articles retrieved, 85 articles were selected. It was confirmed that health promotion in the workplace has been a concern and is recognized as beneficial to workers' health and economic advantage. A flow for a health promotion program was proposed. Bibliographic analyzes indicated that the workplace is strategic for these programs. There is limited evidence that proves that health promotion programs generate improvements in cost indicators for corporate health care, which requires new and more in-depth studies.
