Título: Aos loucos, o hospício? A representação da instituição psiquiátrica na telenovela brasileira

Abstract: "To the madmen, the asylum!". When in the nineteenth century the members of the Imperial Academy of Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine of Rio de Janeiro used this slogan to demand the creation of hospices to house the madmen of the city, they were in line with what was most modern and revolutionary in Europe. At a time when the so-called alienated were collected in the streets and sent to public jails or the Holy Houses of Mercy and in these places suffered from moral reprimands to physical torture, a space destined only to them would solve two problems in one stroke: it would remove from the streets the disturbing element of order while at the same time restoring their reason from moral treatment. Thus, was inaugurated with pomp and circumstance the first Hospice of Brazil, which came to receive the name of Emperor Dom Pedro II and be considered a landmark of modernity. However, what history shows us is that, over time, various abuses have been committed in these institutions. It is not surprising, therefore, that Brazilian telenovelas, which have always sought to get closer to daily life and life, have so often made use of this resource as a stage for the misadventures experienced by their good guys and villains. In different stations, in different decades, we find a multitude of characters affected by madness or falsely accused of it and interned in psychiatric institutions that restrict their contact with the city and deprive them of everything that is dear to them. Considering the strength that telenovelas have in our country, especially those of the Globo broadcast, we propose an investigation and an analysis about how hospices are represented by them, from an empirical observation and having as theoretical reference Goffman's concept of total institutions, of clichés and stereotypes of Amossy and Pierrot and of representation of Stuart Hall. In line with what was established by Motter and Lopes, we consider the brazilian telenovelas as a genre of its own, which has peculiarities that distinguish it from both American soap operas and soap operas produced in other parts of the world. In addition to Motter and Lopes, our analysis of the brazilian telenovelas is also based on Hamburger's work. To achieve our goal, we chose as a methodological cut the telenovelas Caminho das Índias, O outro lado do Paraíso, Orgulho e Paixão and Além da ilusão, which contains important scenes set in psychiatric institutions.

Título: #lendonapraia: a biografia de uma hashtag e a circulação de conteúdo literário

Abstract: This research addresses the role of hashtags in content circulation on social media, specifically on Instagram. To investigate this phenomenon, a contextualization is initially provided regarding how information circulation occurred in past centuries and after the emergence of smartphones. The dissertation also presents the context of the emergence of the hashtag symbol (#) and its uses over time until its current meaning in the digital environment. The literary hashtag #lendonapraia (in English, the meaning is "reading on the beach") will be analyzed to explore the circulation of literary content on Instagram. As methodology, the biography of this tag was constructed after selection based on 4 criteria and research within the Instagram application itself. The biography consists of the analysis of all posts with the hashtag, from its inception (with the first post) until the conclusion of this work, and the results were detailed based on this observation until April 2023.

Título: As formações discursivas da Segurança Pública fluminense no Twitter

Abstract: The objective of this research was to present the discursive formations of public security in Rio de Janeiro based on the analysis of tweets from the newspaper O Globo; compared to posts by the Military Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro (PMERJ) on Twitter. In the area of public security there is a latent discomfort between security agencies and the mainstream media, more specifically with “reference journalism”, a concept presented by Zamin (2014). The result of this veiled tension can affect society and negatively reflect on citizens' sense of security. It is not uncommon to observe discordant narratives between the mainstream media and public security bodies, especially the Military Police, whose agents operate on the front line in direct contact with the population. The research demonstrates the discursive formations of these two relevant social actors, the mainstream media and the Military Police, and proposes actions that can minimize discomfort between them. The methodology used mixed methods, with content analysis, multiple case studies and participant observation with interviews based on posts about the same facts on Twitter profiles - @OGlobo_Rio and @PMERJ during 2021.

Abstract: This dissertation incorporates the figure of Pombagira to deal with the intersections between the qualities of freedom and insurgency in ppmbagiristics and the burdens left by the patriarchy, to reflect on how the female body manages to rise up when it is constantly demonized by the dominant male pattern. Such reflections will be made through the corners of an epistemological crossroads that discusses issues such as machismo, violence, control of bodies and heteronormativity, materially and symbolically confronted with elements belonging to the Pombagira. From the figure of Pombagira, considered in this study as a transgressive power, each corner will bring elements of this entity to confront the patriarchal structure and contribute to gestures that are considered here as uprisings of the feminine. Uniting experiences, personal experiences, ancestors, ancestral knowledge to a plural and diversified theoretical framework, these pages aim to stir up reflections on what happens in the daily lives of all those who suffer from the restriction of their bodies. Including spiritual bodies.
