Abstract: This dissertation discusses the relationship between political democracy and the democratic&#xD;
management of education and schools, considering the National Education Plan and the&#xD;
Municipal Education Plan of São João de Meriti (2014–2024), with a particular focus on Target 19 of these plans and the unfolding political crisis that led to the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff in 2016. It seeks to understand how the republican experience of democracy in Brazil relates to democratic and educational principles, especially within the interactions between schools and their communities through collegiate and deliberative spaces. It also examines the socioeconomic and political context of São João de Meriti, located in the Baixada Fluminense region—a peripheral territory marked by social inequalities and a fragile presence of public power. Finally, it discusses the mismatches between the National and Municipal Education Plans of São João de Meriti, using theoretical references from the political history of education and educational planning.

Abstract: This research investigated the contribution of the social movement 100% Parque&#xD;
de Realengo Verde to the reconstruction of the collective memory of the Realengo&#xD;
neighborhood, linked to the former Cartridge Factory, through an educational process&#xD;
promoted by the movement itself. The struggle sought to transform area three of the&#xD;
former factory into an urban and environmental park, resulting in the partial conquest of&#xD;
50% of the land by 2024. The analysis is based on the perspective of Nilma Lino&#xD;
Gomes (2010), who recognizes social movements as educators. Ethnography,&#xD;
combined with participant observation and semi-structured interviews, oral history, and&#xD;
bibliographic research, were used as methodologies. The results indicate that the&#xD;
movement promotes an educational process aligned with Freirean praxis (Freire, 2004),&#xD;
starting from the relationship with place (Santos, 2012) and transforming the actors&#xD;
involved into peripheral subjects (D’Andreia, 2020). Understanding the dimension of&#xD;
collective memory, these individuals begin to work toward affirming local identity (Jelin,&#xD;
2012), which leads to the reconstruction of the collective memory of the Realengo&#xD;
neighborhood, linked to the former Realengo Factory.

    <title>Identidades periféricas contemporâneas: memória coletiva e territorialidade através do cinema onde a Baixada é Fluminense e a terra não é de ninguém</title>

Abstract: Who are you, Baixada Fluminense? This dissertation examines community life&#xD;
in Nova Iguaçu and the wider Baixada Fluminense in the third decade of the twentyfirst&#xD;
century through the intentionally fragmented perspectives of cultural agents, film&#xD;
students and audiovisual professionals associated with the institution EncontrArte. The&#xD;
concept of identity is grounded in the theoretical contributions of Stuart Hall, Zygmunt&#xD;
Bauman, and Sigmund Freud, while the notion of memory draws on Maurice&#xD;
Halbwachs. The history of the region and its inhabitants is briefly outlined, followed by&#xD;
an introduction to EncontrArte Audiovisual. Interviews and conceptions of periphery&#xD;
are analyzed with reference to authors such as Ana Enne, Luiz Antonio Simas, Luiz&#xD;
Rufino, Neiva Vieira da Cunha and Gabriel Feltran. The people of the Baixada&#xD;
Fluminense are situated within a hegemonic discourse perpetuated by dominant&#xD;
media, which portrays the region as a kind of “no man’s land”. The identity of the region,&#xD;
though acknowledged as complex and fragmented, is shaped by historical processes&#xD;
of social precarization imposed by power structures. This study underscores that&#xD;
identity is constituted through conflict, confrontation and contrast. A sociological and&#xD;
ethnographic lens is employed to incorporate additional factors in defining the&#xD;
collective and peripheral identity. A key section of the research examines films&#xD;
produced between 2023 and 2024, revealing a sensitive process of self-narration by&#xD;
Baixada Fluminense filmmakers, which has contributed to the emergence of new&#xD;
perceptions of this territory and its people among diverse audiences.

Abstract: Starting from the understanding that education is a thread that is built within&#xD;
territories and intertwined with culture and daily life, the proposed research seeks to&#xD;
investigate how actions to confront the lack of access to sanitation can be&#xD;
characterized as practices of Environmental Education. Thus, this investigation aims&#xD;
to analyze the colonial environmental double fracture (Ferdinand, 2022) in the context&#xD;
of a locality in the city of Belford Roxo, a municipality in the Baixada Fluminense region.&#xD;
In this way, we will analyze how the legacy of colonial works, mainly as an asset of&#xD;
environmental/racial violence, named here as a double fracture, has impacted the&#xD;
environment. In this work, we investigate how community spaces directly affected by&#xD;
these effects have confronted this issue. The focus of this research is the community&#xD;
of Beco Priscila, located in the neighborhood of Nova Aurora. The construction of this&#xD;
study is based on narratable experiences (Benjamin, 1994), being carried out through&#xD;
interlocutions with a long-time resident of the territory, who offers her memories as a&#xD;
tool to rescue the community’s memory regarding the relationship with/in the&#xD;
environment.
