As transições de mulheres com Síndrome de Turner: contribuição para a Enfermagem

Abstract

It is a descriptive study of a qualitative approach that used the narrative method of life. It was defined as the object of study: the transition of the woman with Turner's Syndrome in relation to the limitations caused by the Syndrome. The guiding questions were: what is the experience of the woman with Turner's Syndrome in relation to the strategies adopted to face the limitations caused by the disease? What guidelines do women with Turner Syndrome receive in health services? How can nursing contribute to the woman after being diagnosed with the syndrome, in order to be a facilitator of the healthy transition process for this woman? What factors make it easier or difficult and how does the transition process of women with Turner's syndrome occur? The general objective was: To analyze the transition process of women with Turner Syndrome in relation to the vulnerability and limitation caused by the Syndrome. And the specific objectives were: To describe the experience of the woman with Turner Syndrome to face the limitations caused by the Syndrome; To identify the orientations received by women with Turner Syndrome in health services; To discuss the factors that facilitate or hinder the transition process of women with Turner Syndrome; Propose a technological product that contributes to a healthy transition of these women. The study scenario was the outpatient clinic of a State Institute in Rio de Janeiro. Participants were 12 women with Turner Syndrome assisted in the Institute's research setting. The study was approved by the Ethics and Research Committee of UERJ, and the cooperating institution, which has its own Committee. From the thematic analysis of the life narratives emerged a category, and a subcategory that were discussed in the light of concepts of vulnerability, stigma, family systems theory and adopted as theoretical reference the theory of transitions. The study evidenced that the diagnosis of Turner Syndrome occurs late, and that there is a gap related to nursing care, mainly in relation to the guidelines. This woman is stigmatized and suffers from prejudice. Three types of vulnerabilities were identified: individual, social and programmatic vulnerabilities. The present transitions were developmental, health-disease and organizational. The family is very important in the differentiation of the self of this woman, being able to contribute actively in the insertion of the same in the society.
