Amor e cura na Daseinsanálise de Ludwig Binswanger

Abstract

Having the problem of love as an essential factor for healing in Psychotherapy, we investigated the effects of the psychiatrist Ludwig Binswanger's contribution to Daseinsanalysis today. The methodology adopted was the narrative review, taking the Grundformen und Erkenntnis Menschlichen Daseins as the main work. Through secondary literature, we approached other productions by the psychiatrist, as well as other published articles on the subject retrieved from academic databases, using the following descriptors: 'Binswanger and love'; 'Phenomenology and love'; 'Daseinsanalysis and Binswanger'; ‘Daseinsanalysis and love’. From the other works published by the doctor, we selected those that contribute directly and indirectly to the understanding of his analytical proposal and on the theme of love. The general objective is to investigate, in their studies, how the approach to love developed in their clinical construction, and how it appeared in clinical cases so that the cure was effectively achieved. Under the specific objectives, we focus on Binswanger's understanding of the notion of love, based on Fundamental Forms and Knowledge of Human Existence, and we investigate the concept of Psychotherapy developed throughout his productions and clinical cases. We analyzed such cases in order to determine how love was presented and in what ways it manifested itself, understanding it as an element that would lead to healing. We also aim to identify in what ways the elements exposed and constructed by the psychiatrist were presented in their clinical cases, and how the theme of love appeared positioned historically linked to romantic love. By questioning the movements against reason, present in the 19th century and resulting from the romantic manifestations, which permeated Binswanger's therapeutic practice and his production, we were able to reflect on how such problems remain for Psychology and Daseinsanalysis today. Believing that it is possible to identify that the relationship between love and healing in the light of e Binswanger's thought reverberated in his clinic, and the way in which this process was presented, we conclude that the proposal of Daseinsanalysis for the psychiatrist only proposes to carry out therapeutically effective practices when we are able to open, together with the suffering neighbor, the understanding of the structure of the human being-there. Since psychotherapy is a comprehensive relationship, we conclude that Binswanger understood love as a structure that, condescendingly, makes the difference appear. This means that the psychotherapist seeks with the patient that he can deal with the different, being lovingly welcomed. It is in this embracement that other ways of loving can erupt in the patient, in addition to the love for the self, or for the other that still concerns my self. The proposal for a therapeutic approach was translated into the well-known expression taken up by Heidegger: “amo, volo ut sis.”. That is, to accept/welcome someone is to do it in its essence, it is to make possible the opening of possibility, in which nothing else should be the focus of the daseinsanalyst.
