| Resumo: | Esta pesquisa científica, realizada no âmbito da Historiografia da Linguística (HL), tem como foco a análise da Gramática da Língua Portuguesa (GLP) escrita pelo gramático humanista João de Barros (JB) em 1540. O objetivo geral deste estudo é discutir o processo de gramatização da Língua Portuguesa (LP), a influência da tradição gramatical greco-latina no pensamento linguístico de JB, bem como o papel das línguas na formação do ideário linguístico do povo português. A investigação empreendida nesta dissertação terá como aporte teórico os pressupostos da HL de Koerner (1996 e 2014), Swiggers (2010), Batista (2013, 2019, 2020 e 2023) e Kaltner (2012 e 2023b), sendo, portanto, desenvolvida por meio de uma análise qualitativa, de fonte bibliográfica, que levará em conta não só os fatores linguísticos da obra, a análise de sua estrutura per se, mas também os fatores extralinguísticos que estão relacionados ao que se convenciona chamar de ‘clima de opinião’, a saber, o ambiente de produção, circulação e recepção da gramática, os parâmetros que influenciaram o pensamento linguístico de JB. Para fins de investigação da filiação da gramática ao modelo greco-latino será apresentado um recorte do pensamento linguístico desde a antiguidade clássica até o Renascimento. Quanto à reconstrução do ‘clima de opinião’ serão utilizadas algumas fontes secundárias, como, por exemplo, a Gramática da Linguagem Portuguesa de Fernão de Oliveira, contemporâneo de JB, publicada em 1536, que nos fornecerá um contraponto na compreensão da teoria linguística empregada por JB. Também servirão de embasamento teórico textos que nos ajudarão a reconstituir o Portugal do período renascentista, quando o vernáculo português começava o seu percurso rumo ao status de língua de cultura. Tenciona-se que os achados desta pesquisa possam contribuir para o desenvolvimento dos estudos historiográficos, na medida em que se busca verificar a relação de continuidade e descontinuidades das teorias linguísticas no decorrer dos tempos |
| Abstract: | This scientific research, carried out within the scope of Historiography of Linguistics (HL), focuses on the analysis of the Gramática d Língua Portuguesa (GLP), written by the humanist grammarian João de Barros (JB) in 1540. The general objective of this study is to discuss the process of grammatization of the Portuguese Language (LP), the influence of the Greco-Latin grammatical tradition on JB's linguistic thought, as well as the role of languages in the formation of the linguistic ideas of the Portuguese people. The investigation undertaken in this dissertation will have as its theoretical contribution the HL assumptions of Koerner (1996 and 2014), Swiggers (2010), Batista (2013, 2019, 2020 and 2023) and Kaltner (2012 and 2023b), being, therefore, developed by through a qualitative analysis, from a bibliographical source, which will take into account not only the linguistic factors of the grammar, the analysis of its structure per se, but also the extralinguistic factors, which are related to what is conventionally called 'climate of opinion' , it means, the environment of production, circulation and reception of grammar, parameters that influenced JB's linguistic thinking. In order to investigate the affiliation of grammar to the Greco-Latin model, a cross-section of linguistic thought from classical antiquity to the Renaissance will be presented. On the other hand, regarding the reconstruction of the 'climate of opinion', some secondary sources will be used, such as the Gramática da Linguagem Portuguesa by Fernão de Oliveira, a contemporary of JB, published in 1536, which will provide us with a counterpoint in understanding the linguistic theory employed by JB. Texts that will help us reconstitute the Portugal of the Renaissance period, when the Portuguese vernacular began its journey towards the status of language of culture, will also serve as a theoretical basis. It is intended that the findings of this research may contribute to the development of historiographical studies, as it seeks to verify the relationship of continuity and discontinuities of linguistic theories over time |
